The main page
The home page sets no cookies and never loads the Meta Pixel. Fonts, images and the background videos are served from this site. It counts visits and taps on its streaming and pre-save buttons anonymously, in the same way as the song pages (below). The hosting provider (Google Firebase) keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
Videos
Videos on the home page show a picture from this site until you press play. Only then does the player load from YouTube (its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com version), and from that point Google receives the data YouTube needs to play the video, underGoogle's Privacy Policy.
Visit and tap counts
The home page and the song pages (thefourie.com/ followed by the song's name) link to the songs on each streaming service. To see which songs, links and ads bring listeners, they count, anonymously, each visit and each tap on a streaming service, share or pre-save button. Each count records the page, the button, the campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), the website or app you came from, your device type (iPhone, Android or other), your browser's language and time zone, and the time.
It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and records no IP address, account or other identifier: the counts from one visit share only a random number that is forgotten when you leave the page. The counts are stored with Google Firebase and are used only to measure this site's links and ads.
Song pages and the Meta Pixel
Song pages can also use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd (Meta Platforms, Inc. outside Europe), to measure which Instagram and Facebook ads bring listeners. When it runs, it sets cookies and sends Meta the page you visited, the streaming service you tapped, and technical details such as your IP address and browser. Meta may link this to your Facebook or Instagram account and uses it under its ownPrivacy Policy.
If your device is set to a European time zone, song pages don't load the pixel at all, so nothing is sent to Meta and no cookies are set. Elsewhere, for the collection and sending of this data, Eben Fourie and Meta are joint controllers; Meta alone is responsible for what it does with the data afterwards.
